Leaving Gainesville

All our bags are packed...we're ready to go.
We left Gainesville, Florida today after work. The apartment is clean and keys are turned in. It was a little emotional leaving the office, even though I know I will be connecting online in just two weeks. Being away from the team for 6 months will be hard on me, as I won't have the daily interaction with people Adam will have at his office. But, I've done it before from New Orleans, and this won't be much different - other than fewer hours of daylight and 40 plus degrees colder on average. Yikes!
We fit 5 large luggage suitcases, plus the last remaining items we decided to keep (storing them at Cat's parents' house) into the care and are headed north to spend a quiet Christmas with family before embarking on the next phase of our life.
G has no clue what's in store for him, or how much his life's about to change. Sure, he knows we are moving to Finland, but at 3 years old, we aren't quite sure exactly what that means to him. We've talked about making new friends, speaking a new language, and living in a new house, but there's still a lot we are sure he doesn't realize.
There is something exciting in this, but also a small amount of guilt in that he doesn't have a choice. We know that this experience will enrich his life forever, and we take comfort in that fact when the guilt creeps in.
