Welcome to our blog! We are the Holladays! We are a family of 3 who recently sold everything in order to travel more. We've lived in 2 countries and traveled to 18 in the last 2 years alone! Follow our adventures as we move into the next phase of our lives - full time RVing!

Adam, Cat, and G were all born in different states - Adam in Florida, Cat in California, and G in Louisiana. Adam and Cat caught the travel bug after experiencing France together in 2004. They believe that travel is the only thing you can buy that truly makes you richer, and they strive to fulfill this mantra in every place they visit. Together, they have traveled more than 35 countries, experiencing art, history and culture in each location. They strive teach the world that travel doesn't have to be scary. It can be enriching.

In 2013, G was born. He's now 4 and has been to 18 countries and 15 US states and shares our love of travel (even if tasting the ice cream is his top priority in each country!). His favorite so far is Finland, but he's always up for the next adventure. Already he has a passion for people and culture and we hope to continue to keep that flame burning for him.

In January 2017, we left Gainesville, Florida to embark upon an exciting adventure in Finland. We had always been anxious to live overseas and when the perfect temporary opportunity presented itself we jumped on it. Life in Finland was fun, but it did have a few drawbacks - 6 hours of daylight in the winter is not easy for Floridians, and the language is nearly impossible to learn.

Despite the minor difficulties, we learned a LOT, made amazing friends, and got to travel to several other European countries while there.

We've now moved back to the US to start the next phase of our lives as full-time RVers! We are based in Charlottesville, Virginia enjoying the camping life and the opportunities a motorhome affords - we can change our view every weekend if we want for just a little investment. No more expensive hotels, resort fees, flights, etc. The motorhome life was two-fold.

This blog is our collection of stories, musings, travel photography, tips, and ideas to inspire as many people as possible to travel and explore. Discover the world around you! It offers SO MUCH to learn!

We hope you'll follow us on our journey as we discover new regions, new languages, make new friends, and more.

We are often asked what Hot Ashes For Trees means, in fact, this is probably the first question nearly everyone asks. Fans of Pink Floyd, Hot Ashes For Trees is part of a line in the song "Wish You Were Here." It has been translated many times, by many people, although never confirmed by any members of the band itself. We translate the line to mean trading past good experiences and memories for future greater ones, although these new experiences won't be the same. What is past is past. There is a vast world to discover so buckle up for the ride!

We believe it is an appropriate title for our adventures and mirrors our outlook on life, education, and travel.

Safe travels, maybe we will see you around!
